I shot this photograph this morning just before having that first cup of tea… People often ask “How are you?” or “How is everything?” I always say what everyone says which goes along the lines of “Pretty good thanks…”
So back to my point, I was in the garden on a not too bad Autumn morning and my girlfriend pointed out this tree in the neighbours garden which had lost all its leaves, my first thought was that this is exactly how I feel… so I grabbed my camera and shot this photograph, if you look at this photo and listen to Treefingers by Radiohead you get a pretty good idea of how I actually feel most of the time.

A few months back I was invited by my very good friend Sven to a dedication for his son Alexander. This was my first dedication and volunteered to shoot a few photos. It was a really good day out and was good to spend some time with his family and friends. I shot everything with natural light(how unlikely is that?) and converted them to mono and tried out a few processing techniques but decided on a classic black and white feel. in the end. The photos didn’t turn out exactly as I initially planned but I still really love these.
Oh, that last photo is not of Alexander but is one of my favourite portraits to date which was shot at the dedication so I thought I would post it anyway…

I shots a few of the shows at the Jo’burg Audi Fashion Week for JhbLive during the last few days. I’m only going to post two photos from those shows on this blog because this is not a fashion blog and I try to keep the photos mainly music related AND I try not to post photos of people with eating disorders(i am kidding)… I’m posting these two as I like these way more than any of the others… my favourite is the second one… and yes, it is out of focus… and yes, I meant it to be so… really… I like the first one because it’s not your standard ramp shot and I quite like the framing…

… It was a good morning and I shot a few photos of my cousin Yeshiel at a nearby park… these are those photos… or four of them at least. I’ve been messing around with some processing techniques so these have been processed slightly differently… especially the last one…

Spoke to a friend on mine today and he suggested that I post a few in a series, so these two go with the previous post. Very little post processing on the second one, just a curves adjustment… the auto-focus on my lens jammed and that was the result.
Listen to Off He Goes by Pearl Jam whilst looking at the first one. Been listening to a fair bit of Pearl Jam’s No Code record, reminds me of growing up and the people who have had a huge influence on my life.

So this is another ‘random’ shot. We were driving back up to Jo’burg from Durban on what was a really cool photo trip despite it only being two days. Finally watched 24 Hour Party People during the trip(which was uber cool)… Anyway I took this photo, I really like it because its kinda ominous and it kinda reflects how I see the world. It’s bit similar to my previous post in terms of the feeling you get when you look at it… I recommend listening to Sit Down, Stand Up by Radiohead when looking at this photo(Really).

This is a pretty old photo, was busy sorting out all my photos in Lightroom and I came across this one, its a very quick edit… Its was taken at one of the gigs at Emmarentia. Haven’t been taking many photos recently so I just wanted to post something in the meanwhile. Going to shoot Apple Ann and Dear Reader at their show at the WITS Great Hall(www.fellfromtheskyyousay.co.za) on the 23rd October so I am really looking forward to that, hoping to get to the Big City Bash (www.bigcitybash.co.za) at the Alex Theatre on the same night to shoot Dead Alphabet and Zebra & Giraffe as well.
The photo I was rambling on about …

I’ve been wanting to take this photo for a while now, I found this album at the Rosebank flea market a few months back and was really excited about finding it… anyway I thought it may make a good photo. They’re the one band I can always go back to and listen to(Thanks Dad).
If you don’t have any Beatles albums, I really encourage you to give them a listen. If you find the Red Album(‘62 – ‘66) on red vinyl I really encourage you to give it to me.

So this a little different from the stuff you would usually find on this site. I’ve been toying with the idea of doing some stock photograhpy, its not really my thing but thought I’d play around with the idea. So this is a plant. I took a photograph of it. Not much else to say. If you’re keen to know how I lit the plant, email me, I’ll email you back.

I went to Constitutional Hill recently, if you can go, you should go. Two photos from the day.
